.

The site map provides a quick reference to the web site sections and their contents.

Resources is the main site section and contains the various resources created by the project for use by advisors and their SME clients.

  • Advisor / Manager Core Reference Material
  • The Blueprints - provide a set of 10 'templates' for flexible working. Each is a kind of 'generic' case showing the classic features of interest, problems, and solutions in the specific type of flexible working addressed. These are designed to be used as guidance when considering the specific type of flexible working. They are provided in several languages.
  • The Handbook - is a detailed introduction to flexible working and covers types of flexible working, costs and benefits, key issues and problems, and a host of other relevant topics. The handbook is designed for study and usage by advisors or SME managers, and is accompanied by a separate Executive Summary where the key points are presented for easy access.
  • Advisor / Manager Briefings
  • The Management Briefings area - offers a set of manager briefings on different topics such as 'putting your business on the web', and 'overcoming the broadband divide'. The aim of these is to alert managers to the emerging themes and issues in the field of flexible working.
  • The Technology Briefings area - includes a set of more than 20 briefings on different technologies supporting flexible working. These cover a wide range of topics, from PC platforms to Access technologies (broadband etc.), and show how benefits can be derived.
  • Case Studies for Learning and Illustration
  • The SME Case Studies area - provides a rich set of case studies derived from interviews with managers of small and medium enterprise (SME). Each illustrates the personal experience of the people involved in trying out flexible working.
  • The Regional Case Studies area - contains a set of more detailed reports and papers illustrating ways in which flexible working has been implemented for regional development purposes. The regional aspect is quite strong in these papers, and shows how key agencies view flexible working as an enabling technology or practice.
  • The Technology Case Studies area - includes a wide set of short case descriptions that each illustrate recent success in using more advanced technologies for flexible working.
  • Tools and Resources for Decision Support and Implementation
  • The Tools area - provides a set of decision support tools to help with planning and introduction of flexible working. These include the Implementation Planning Aid (FWIP), Cost benefit Analysis Tool (CBT), samples of existing Flexible Employment Contracts, Checklists to assist introduction, and Phased Introduction Methodology (PIM) for larger company implementation.
  • Emerging Technology and Practice, and Future Perspectives
  • The IST Success Stories area - provides detailed cases of recent work related to flexible working from the IST programme. These are European collaborative projects that have demonstrated substantial success in showing how flexible working can be supported by new approaches.
  • The IST Links area - presents selected research projects developing the future knowledge base for flexible working. This is a wider selection than in the 'success stories', and aims to show the future development pathways that will eventually provide new ways of working using advanced technologies or processes.
Links - provides links to online resources outside the FlexWork project. These are a selected sample of quality resources in other sites and are offered to support the advisor/manager making a broader investigation of flexible working.

About Flexwork - is a description of the project and how it works to benefit Business Advisors and their SMEs.

Contacts - provides contact details for the FlexWork participants.

Links - to further resources.
